Polimex-Mostostal increasing its export capabilities regarding high-margin steel products.

Energomontaż Północ S.A., owned by the Polimex-Mostostal S.A. Group, purchased yesterday, on 26 November, part of the assets of the Gdynia Shipyard –the so-called Complex no. 4 comprising, among other things, a graving dock and access to the wharf – for over 33 million PLN. The area has been provided with an overhead travelling crane and cranes.

Polimex-Mostostal, which in Q1 2010 incorporates EnergomontaŜ Północ into its structure as a result of a dynamically realised process of the Group reorganisation, will utilise the purchased wharf and shipyard equipment to a large extent.

The Polimex-Mostostal Group manufactures and supplies a wide range of technologically advanced, large size steel structures to customers all around the world, in the power engineering, chemical and petrochemical sectors that are of key importance to the economy.

This in particular regards the following items manufactured and exported within the Group by:

Energomontaż Północ Gdynia – equipment and structures for offshore projects (among other things, oil rigs and wind farm elements),
Naftobudowa Kraków – heavy elements of technological furnaces,
Fabryka Kotłów Sefako – power boilers fuelled with various types of fuels,
Polimex-Mostostal – large size, complicated steel structures for shipyards, power plants and other industrial plants, as well as bridge and overpass elements.
- Its own port wharf, adapted to the specific needs of the Group, will significantly facilitate preparation of structures and equipment for dispatch, reduce the time of delivery to the customer, and the time of installation of the elements at the customer’s site, as well as reduce the costs associated with that. So far, with respect to that, the Group has been utilising the leased port infrastructure which involved certain difficulties and higher costs, informs President of the Management Board, Konrad Jaskóła.

- The so purchased port wharf will enable EnergomontaŜ Gdynia, which so far has been utilising the wharf leased, to locate the production of the equipment there. Moreover, it provides the possibility of integrating the export production in Poland. This is consistent with the global tendencies to maximise prefabrication of equipment and structures prior to dispatch to the ordering party. This is a new quality which perfectly facilitates the final installation at the customer’s site. In this way, the wharf will also be utilised by such Group companies as:  Naftobudowa, Nafroremont, Sefako and Polimex-Mostostal with respect to exporting large spherical structures, large-size equipment and other steel structures, adds the President.

- Furthermore, the graving dock provides the possibility of extending the scope of our services with repairs and ship-breaking. This in turn provides potential possibilities with respect to organising additional jobs for dockyard workers, concludes President Jaskóła.
